ARRIVING IN ENGLAND

    Ahmet, Zeynep and the Millers stayed in  Paris for two days. They all liked Paris very much. Zeynep wanted to go to the Louvre Museum again.
    Mr. Miller said, "We want to go shopping. But Ahmet can take you and Mary to the museum and in the afternoon we can meet at the Jardin du Luxemburg at five o'clock. Ahmet has learned the metro very well. So you can go by yourselves. If you have difficulty, you will always find an English speaking person."
    Mr. And Mrs. Miller went shopping at the Galeries Lafayette. They walked in the store for two hours. Mrs. Miller bought two hats and some silk dresses. Mr. Miller bought some ties and handkerchiefs. When they came out of the store they were very tired but they wanted to walk along the river Seine. They bought some books and paintings from the book-sellers along the Seine. They had tea at a small cafe and went to the Jardin du Lüxemburg. The children weren't there yet. So they sat on a bench and began to read. After about an hour the children came. They were very tired.
    "You came late." Mrs. Miller said, "It's nearly six o'clock."
    "We lost our way." Mary said. They were laughing. "We wanted to come by metro. We took a metro going to anoyher place and travelled for two hours to come to the park."
    "Didn't you ask your way?" Mr. Miller asked them.
    "We asked about seven or eight people." Zeynep answered. "Five of them were tourists like us, and the others didn't speak English. At last we found an English-speaking French lady. When we went to ask her our way, she said, "Will you please tell me the way to Place de la Nation?" and we all began to laugh."
    They had dinner at a restaurant in the park. When they came to the hotel they were very tired and went to bed early.
    Next morning at ten o'clock they took a taxi to the Gare St. Lazare. The train for Calais left at half past ten. They arrived at Calais in the afternoon. They went through  the customs in half an hour and they went to the ship.
    They Channel was very interesting. It wasn't like other seas. It was rough and the clouds were nearly touching the sea. There was a very strong wind. But when the ship came near England, the wind stopped.
    They arrived in Folkstone at five o'clock. When they came out of the customs-house the train for London was ready.

İNGİLTERE'YE VARIŞ

    Ahmet, Zeynep ve Millerler Pariste iki gün kaldılar. Paris'i hepsi çok sevdiler. Zeynep tekrar Louvre müzesine gitmek istedi.
    Mr. Miller, "Biz alışverişe gitmek istiyoruz. Fakat Ahmet seni ve Mary'yi müzeye götürebilir ve öğleden sonra saat beşte Jardin du Luxembourg'da buluşabiliriz. Ahmet metroyu çok iyi öğrendi. Böylece kendi kendinize gidebilirsiniz. Bir zorlukla karşılaşırsanız daima İngilizce konuşan bir şahıs bulacaksınız." dedi.
    Mr. Ve Mrs. Miller Gallery Lafayette'de alışverişe gittiler. Mağazada iki saat yürüdüler. Mr. Miller iki şapka ve birkaç ipek elbise aldı. Mr. Miller birkaç kravat ve mendil aldı. Mağazadan çıktıkları zaman çok yorgundular, fakat Seine nehri boyunca yürümek istediler. Seine boyunca kitapçılardan birkaç kitap ve tablolar aldılar. Küçük bir kahvede çay içtiler ve Jardin du Luxembourg'a gittiler. Çocuklar henüz orada değillerdi. Bu sebepten bir sıraya oturdular ve okumaya başladılar. Takriben bir saat sonra çocuklar geldiler. Çok yorgundular.
    Mrs. Miller, "Geç geldiniz." dedi.  "Saat hemen hemen altı."
    Mary, "Yolumuzu kaybettik." dedi. Gülüyorlardı. "Metroyla gelmek istedik. Başka bir yere giden bir metroya bindik ve parka gelmek için iki saat seyahat ettik."
    Mr. Miller onlara, "Yolunuzu sormadınız mı?" diye sordu.
    Zeynep, "Aşağı yukarı yedi sekiz kişiye sorduk." diye cevap verdi. "Onların beşi bizim gibi turisttiler, diğerleri İngilizce konuşmuyordu. Nihayet İngilizce konuşan Fransız bir Hanım bulduk. Ona yolumuzu sormağa gittiğimiz zaman "Lütfen bana Place de La Nation yolunu söyler misiniz?" dedi ve hepimiz gülmeye başladık."
    Parkta bir lokantada akşam yemeği yediler. Otele geldikleri zaman çok yorgundular erken yattılar.
    Ertesi sabah saat onda Gare St. Lazare'a (Gare St. Lazare için) bir taksiye bindiler. Calais treni on buçukta ayrıldı. Calais'ye öğleden sonra vardılar. Yarım saatte gümrükten geçtiler ve gemiye gittiler.
    Manş çok enteresandı. Diğer denizler gibi değildi. Dalgalıydı ve bulutlar hemen hemen denize değiyordu. Çok kuvvetli bir rüzgar vardı. Fakat gemi İngiltere'ye yaklaştığı zaman rüzgar durdu.
    Folkstone'a saat beşte vardılar. Gümrük binasından çıktıkları zaman Londra treni hazırdı.
