MARY AND THE ÇELİKELS COME TO ISTANBUL

    Ahmet, Zeynep and the Millers are going to England in two weeks. Mr. and Mrs. Miller will come Istanbul from Ankara, so Mary, Ahmet and Zeynep came to Istanbul two days ago. Hasan Bey and Recep came to Istanbul with them.
    Ahmet and Zeynep are going to stay in England for about two months. Mary and they are now staying at Hasan Bey's sister's house. Ahmet and Zeynep love her very much. Her name is Zehra. She has no chidren, so she too loves Ahmet and Zeynep. She lives in Istanbul by herself. She has a beautiful apartment at Maçka.
    They arrived in Istanbul at eight o'clock in the evening. Mary loved Istanbul that night.
    "Although I was here for two nights on our way to your farm, I didn't see much. Now I see the real city." she said.
    They went along the Bosphorus the next day. They al had lunch at a very nice little reastaurant at sarıyer. They had tea at Emirgan on the way back.
    The third day they went along the Golden Horn and Ahmet took Mary to the Pierre Loti coffee-house at Eyüp. On their way back they visited Süleymaniye mosque and Mary took a lot of pictures of it. They went to Sultanahmet mosque the same day. And they went to Gülhane Park and had tea at the seaside at Sarayburnu.
    The fourth day they went to the Princes' Islands. They had lunch at Büyükada and went around the island on donkeys in two hours. They liked it very much.
    They visited Heybeli, Burgaz and Kınalı islands, and in the evening they came home and weent to bed without eating anything. They were ter tired to eat anything.
    Next day in the morning, when they were having tea on the balcony, Mary said, "If I stay longer in Istanbul, I shan't go back to England. I loved this place so much."









 

MARY VE ÇELİKELLER İSTANBUL'A GELİYOR

    Ahmet Zeynep ve Millerler iki hafta içinde İngiltere'ye gidiyorlar. Mr.ve Mrs. Miller İstanbul'a Ankara'dan gelecekler, bu sebepten Mary, Ahmet ve Zeynep iki gün önce İstanbul'a geldiler. Hasan Bey ve Recep onlarla İstanbul'a geldi.
    Ahmet ve Zeynep, İngiltere'de aşağı yukarı iki ay kalacaklar. Mary ve onlar şimdi Hasan Bey'in kızkardeşinin evinde kalıyorlar. Ahmet ve Zeynep onu çok severler. Onun adı Zehra'dır. Hiç çocuğu yoktur, bu sebepten o da Ahmet ve Zeynep'i çok sever. İstanbul'da kendi kendine (tek başına) oturur. Maçka'da güzel bir apartman dairesi var.
    İstanbul'a akşamleyin saat sekizde vardılar (vasıl oldular). Mary o gece İstanbul'u sevdi.
    "Her ne kadar sizin çiftliğinize giderken iki gece burada idiysem de çok görmedim. Şimdi hakiki şehri görüyorum." dedi.
    Ertesi gün Boğaziçi boyunca gittiler ve Ahmet, Mary'yi Eyüp'te Piyer Loti kahvesine götürdü. Dönüşlerinde Süleymaniye camiini ziyaret ettiler ve Mary onun birçok resimlerini çekti. Aynı gün Sultanahmet camiine gittiler. Gülhane Parkına gittiler ve Sarayburnu'nda deniz kenarında çay içtiler.
    Dördüncü gün Adalara gittiler. Büyükada'da öğle yemeği yediler ve iki saat içinde eşekler üzerinde adanın etrafını döndüler (etrafında gittiler). Onu çok sevdiler.
    Heybeli, Burgaz ve Kınalı adaları ziyaret ettiler ve akşamleyin eve geldiler ve hiç bir şey yemeden yattılar. Hiç bir şey yiyemeyecek kadar yorgundular.
    Ertesi gün sabahleyin balkonda çay içerlerken Mary, "İstanbul'da daha uzun kalırsam İngiltere'ye dönmeyeceğim. Burasını pek çok sevdim." dedi.
